Boston, MA
The Huntington Avenue Light rail accessibility project, displays McCourt’s ability to work with several stakeholders, in live traffic, and on active rail lines. In this interagency light rail Project run by the MBTA, with funding contributions from MassDOT, the City of Boston, Boston Water and Sewer, and Northeastern University, McCourt reconstructed Huntington Avenue near several universities.
The work involved in this project included removing and replacing approximately 2500LF of track and track bed; rebuilding five MBTA stations and associated structures; replacing a high-voltage catenary system above the tracks; and rebuilding the sidewalks, curb, bituminous asphalt, stamped asphalt crosswalks, and landscaping. The track work on this project was completed by shutting down the track during weekends and working around the clock. In conjunction with this project, McCourt Construction installed a 14’ steam line beneath the tracks for Northeastern University.
